Academic Support
One of our goals here at UT Dallas is to provide students with the very best educational opportunities possible, both in and out of the classroom.
Now that you’ve transferred to UT Dallas, you’ve got access to all kinds of free resources, programs and opportunities to help you with your educational journey.
To begin with, have you heard of the Transfer Mentor Program?
If not, please take a look at the TMP website and consider joining. Students who’ve done so have benefited greatly from the information and advice they’ve received from transfer mentors.
When it comes to other academic support services, the Student Success Center (SSC) is the next place you should go. Located on the ground floor of the Eugene McDermott Library (MC 1.302), the SCC offers a variety of programs and opportunities:
- The Academic Success Coaching team provides one-on-one, personalized coaching to help students with everything from time management to note taking and study strategies.
- Need help with oral presentations? The SSC’s CommLab is here to help students develop more effective presentations.
- One of the most well-loved programs on campus, Peer-Led Team Learning (PLTL) invites students to join weekly small groups led by students who have excelled in some of UT Dallas’ most challenging introductory courses. Be sure to register as soon as possible, since these groups fill up fast!
- Commonly known as SI, Supplemental Instruction brings students in challenging courses together for helpful, collaborative study sessions.
- If you need some quick help with a class, stop by the SSC and take advantage of their Peer Tutoring opportunities, from drop-in appointments to helpful exam reviews.
- At the Writing Center, students can sign up for one-on-one sessions and receive all kinds of writing feedback and support.
- The Institute for Peer Education recognizes students for their commitment to peer education and mentoring. Learn more about how you can earn a peer educator certification here at UT Dallas.
