Transfer Orientation Registration

Is Transfer Orientation required?

Before you can register for classes at UT Dallas, you must register for and attend a Transfer Orientation session. The sooner you complete your Transfer Orientation requirement, the sooner you’ll be able to register for classes.

How do I register for Transfer Orientation?

Please follow all of the steps we’ve listed on our Transfer Orientation page.

How much does Transfer Orientation cost?

The fee for Transfer Orientation is $50. This covers the cost of facilities, refreshments, T-shirt, staffing, printed materials and programming throughout your first year at UT Dallas.

What if the Transfer Orientation Center doesn’t display my correct major?

The Transfer Orientation registration system will always display your admitted major only.

If you’ve changed your major since being admitted to UT Dallas, please don’t worry. Your Transfer Orientation registration will display your updated major for all advising purposes. Please continue with your Transfer Orientation registration even if your updated major isn’t displayed.

Can I bring guests or family members with me to Transfer Orientation?

You’re allowed to bring one guest with you to Transfer Orientation. When you register for your orientation session, you’ll have the option to submit a guest request. There’s no fee for your guest to attend.

I previously attended a Transfer Orientation or Freshman Orientation at UT Dallas. Do I need to attend again?

You should attend an orientation session that’s designated for your first semester at UT Dallas.

If you deferred your admission or have already attended an orientation session within the last 12 months, you don’t need to attend another orientation. But if you deferred your admission or attended an orientation session more than 12 months ago, you’ll need to register for Transfer Orientation and complete the orientation process once more.

If you attended an orientation session within the last 12 months, deferred your admission, and noticed you still have an orientation hold on your account, please contact our office to resolve your hold.

Are second baccalaureate or certificate-seeking students required to complete a Transfer Orientation?

If you’ve been admitted to UT Dallas as a second baccalaureate student or certificate-seeking student — or if you’re simply taking a few classes here and there for your own educational gratification — you’re not required to register for or attend a Transfer Orientation.

You shouldn’t have an orientation hold on your account, so please contact your academic advisor regarding class registration.
